Romantic Killer, Volume 2

Grades 8-12 The cast grows by several more hot guys as we meet Hijiri, a rich hot guy who decides to slum it by getting a job at the convenience store with Anzu, and Junta, Anzu's supposed childhood friend who has suddenly come back into her life. Tsukasa quickly becomes the resident bug killer in Anzu's house as she censors them in her head (and on the page). Riri the fairy subjects Anzu to as many shojo tropes as possible, but Anzu is still determined to thwart Riri, as well as her many suitors, despite two of them living under her roof. The humor in volume two delivers the same hilarity as the previous volume, and Momose-sensei's cartooning often wonderfully matches the comedic timing. The color of the illustrations is bright and refreshing, and makes every page inviting and beautiful. This series takes some good-natured jabs at the stereotypes of romance stories, and it would be a great investment for a library looking for something that will most likely circulate widely and not take up too much shelf space.
